Winterizing Your Equipment: 5 Tips Before the Freeze
With winter approaching, it’s time to start thinking about winterizing your equipment, whether you plan to store it or use it.
Like any machine, the cold weather makes operation challenging; however, with a few winterizing tips, you can protect your machine and save yourself a headache (or two).

5 Winterizing Tips
1. Check Your Fuel
For machines that take fuel such as wood chippers, mini excavators, mini skid steers, etc., changing to winter-grade fuel will help performance and reduce the risk of gelling.
If you don’t plan on using your equipment in the winter, consider draining your fuel tank to avoid any freezing.
2. Fill Your Tires
Ensure your tires are filled to the recommended pressure. In cooler temperatures, tire pressure tends to drop due to cold air contracting. If you deal with a lot of snow and ice in your area, consider switching to winter tires for better grip.
3. Protect Your Battery
Your battery loses its capacity when cold weather hits. Using an engine block heater will reduce strain on your battery for those cold starts. It’s also recommended to let your machine run before starting use.
4. Clean Your Machine
Give your machine a good clean before the cooler months begin. This will ensure that any dirt, debris, or mud doesn’t attract unwanted pests and prevents potential rust.
5. Store Under Cover
Store your equipment indoors or under shelter if possible. This will avoid any snow or debris that can pile up on it during the winter months. If this isn’t possible, try using a weather-resistant tarp or cover.
Machine Uses During Winter
If you plan on continuing to use your equipment during the winter months, try out a new attachment such as a 72” Snow Blower or an 84” Snow Pusher.
72” Snow Blower
The 72” Snow Blower Attachment from MechMaxx features a wide cutting area, making it ideal for clearing deep snow and heavy snow accumulation.
A 17.5" diameter serrated auger feeds snow efficiently into the 24" diameter impeller for reliable snow removal from driveways, parking lots, and other large areas.

84” Snow Pusher
The 84” Snow Pusher from MechMaxx has multiple uses. Specially designed for road construction tasks, such as road grading, parking lot snow removal, or ditch backfill, to provide long-lasting superior performance.

Both effectively remove snow, making sure your pathways stay clear and reducing your risk of getting snowed in a cabin with Jack Nicholson.
