Halloween Decorations for Your Farm: How to Make the Neighbors Envious

Every year there’s an unspoken competition between you and your neighbors on who has the best Halloween decorations.

Here’s some inspiration for decorations you can do around your land with materials you have lying around that will officially crown you the winner. At least for this season.

Pumpkin Scarecrow

This feels like a classic staple, but there’s tons of room for creativity here. Find some old clothes, some hay or leaves that are lying around, and get to stuffing. You can make them spookier by adding a skull as the head, or keep it friendly with a cute pumpkin.

If you want to take it a step further, you could recreate the scarecrows as recognizable figures such as Shrek, Leatherface, or even your in-laws.

Hay Bale Jack-O-Lantern

If you have leftover hay bales or maybe just love using your hay baler like the HB3120 from MechMaxx, then creating Jack-O-Lanterns will be a treat for you. Grab some orange spray paint, black acrylic paint, and start designing your own pumpkins.

Old Tire Pumpkins

If there are old tires sitting around, this is a great seasonal use for them. Again, you’ll grab some orange spray paint and give it a few coats. For the stem, find a large stick/log and cut out some leaves on sheets of green paper.

Moving Jack-O-Lanterns

Every year we see pumpkin carving competitions where everyone goes all out with their designs, but even the average carver can make their own moving lantern. An easy example is to make one with a tongue sticking out. Find a chopstick, stick or piece of wood that's just shorter of the height of your pumpkin. Next, take a leftover piece of carved pumpkin and shape it into a tongue. Once you do, pierce the tongue with the stick and settle it into the pumpkin. Once it’s properly secured, you’ll be able to move the tongue independently from the rest of the pumpkin.

This is just one example; let your creativity be your guide with your moving Jack-O-Lantern.

Wooden Signs

Assuming you’re looking for an excuse to use your SM-36MAX MechMaxx Sawmill, this project is for you. After cutting a log, you’ll have impeccably flat pieces of wood that are perfect for a Halloween-themed sign.

Grab some paint or a soldering iron to write out your message, whether it’s welcoming or warning of a haunted corn maze.
